Connection Status

Purpose

Use this view at shift start, when a connection-related symptom appears, or whenever quote, order or synchronised data looks interrupted. It answers one operational question: is each required link healthy now?

Where to Find the Evidence

The screen map below follows the approved TradePass Edge Connection Status reference. Read the numbered fields from left to right; it is a field guide, not a live system capture.

  1. Category strip: choose the relevant area: Taker, Maker, Trading Platform or CRM. This defines the family of links you are reading.
  2. Connection: identify the exact link. A link is the unit being monitored.
  3. Traffic: for Taker and Maker, distinguish Quote from Trade before describing impact.
  4. Status: runtime status is Connected or Disconnected. Do not create an undefined aggregate state such as “Partial”.
  5. Last heartbeat: record both the relative age and visible absolute time. A fresh heartbeat supports health; an ageing one needs review. Status is a current snapshot; the heartbeat tells you when the displayed connection last reported activity.

What Normal Looks Like

Required links show Connected and a fresh heartbeat. A link intentionally marked Disabled is an administrative state and is excluded from the health count.

What Needs Review

Review Disconnected, an ageing heartbeat, repeated reconnect evidence, or several related links changing together. A healthy Quote link does not prove the related Trade link is healthy, and vice versa.

Shift Action

  1. Identify the affected link and its traffic direction.
  2. Record status, relative and absolute heartbeat time, and the observable downstream symptom.
  3. Compare one related view: Symbol Overview for quote symptoms, or Decision Stream for order-flow symptoms.
  4. Continue monitoring and escalate an unexplained required-link failure, client impact, related failures, or uncertainty at shift start.

Reminder

Connection Status is evidence, not a recovery console. Use only within assigned Dealer authority.

Key Reminder

A Maker Quote link is disconnected while its Trade link is connected. Report the Quote link as affected with its Last heartbeat; do not report the whole connection as fully down.
